Do you find yourself procrastinating? Are you letting it take over your life? Hopefully not. I find myself procrastinating every once in a while. It’s very common. The question is are we letting it take over our lives.
Putting off for tomorrow, what we should be doing today. Matter of fact, I can hear my mother now, “Shevaughn, don’t put off for tomorrow what you can be doing today.” A running line my mother use to always tell me. I felt like I had all the time in the world as a kid. In actuality, it is the opposite.
Life always throws you a curve ball when you are least expecting it. In fact, I had a curve ball thrown at me this week also. I was so tired and exhausted, I decided to put all my writing activities aside for a while and then here comes the curve ball.
The day I had planned to get some work done, my husband tells me the computer crashed. Well, it stopped working. Now I am in a pinch to get my task down. Well, I have other avenues to use. I just prefer what is comfortable to me to write.
But, when life throws you that curve ball, are you ready to react with the consequences of your procrastination? I know I am. To quote a song, “I will survive.” I am Supermom, Superwoman, etc. I will get it done. I will persevere into something magical. Ok, that’s the writer talking. Not so much as magical, but I would like to think so.
How do you think of yourself when you are in a pinch? You should try to think of yourself as “Super_____.” You fill in the blank. It’s a good thing to think of yourself that way. At least for me. It helps me to conquer the current task. Have confidence in yourself. Learn to not procrastinate unless you can handle any repercussion of your action.
I am glad I don’t procrastinate as much as I used to as a college student. Its something about cramming for that mid-term or 10 page essay that is due in two days. I know I can’t be the only one that did that. It seemed to gain me the same outcome. A great grade on a project. lol. Well, in my defense I was a college student with a husband, three kids, and a full-time job. Sometimes there was no time but time to sleep. So glad that’s over. lol.
